Hunt supporters stage 'indicative protest'

500 country sports supporters stopped traffic in Central London between 2 and 3 pm today by sitting down in the road outside Westminster.

Police kept a watching brief and diverted traffic as a good natured but determined crowd moved onto the carriageway near the St Stevens entrance and sat down. At 3 pm, in response to a short speech from Countryside Action Network spokesman, Janet George, the crowd quickly dispersed back to the pavement as Big Ben struck the hour.

Janet George said: "This was an 'indicative protest'! Hunt supporters are sick and tired of being used as a political football. Jobs, homes, and a whole way of life is under threat and the Government should be in NO doubt about our readiness to fight for our freedom.
