Hunting
to resume - 17 December
At long last, DEFRA
has published the veterinary risk assessment and details of the
temporary system of permits that will apply under the Foot and Mouth
Disease order 1983 (as amended). (see links below)
Stag/hind hunting
will NOT be permitted to resume at this stage, which is bad news for
Exmoor.
There are strict
conditions attached to the resumption of hunting and all hunts should
acquaint themselves fully with them now - as it will take some time to
do all the necessary preparation to comply with the conditions. In
addition to the risk of prosecution for failing to fully comply with all
the conditions, we MUST ensure that hunting does nothing to risk any
chance of another FMD outbreak.
